The St. Jerome’s Laneway Festval, a popular indie musical festival originating from Australia made history yesterday, the 29 Jan 2011, when it stomped into Singapore yesterday.

Featuring up and coming acts like BBC’s Sound of 2011, Warpaint as well as established acts like Ladyhawke, Holy EFF, The Foals, Chk Chk Chk and Temper Trap, the festival also quickly morphed into a mini Woodstock when the grassy slopes of Fort Canning literally transformed into a huge mudslide as monsoon rains came down in sheets.

The Singapore and regional audience however, didn’t let that douse their spirits. Armed with umbrellas, plastic bags, disposable ponchos, lots of drinks and cameras, the crowd cheered on as each band came on to play their sets.

Organisers and the bands were wowed with the crowds’ passion and enthusiasm despite the pouring rain. Well, we hope that earns us enough brownie points for them to consider bringing the festival back to our shores in 2012.

Meanwhile, here’s some video samples of some of the acts that performed.

Holy F**k

About thejellyfarm

In real life, I am a television writer and producer...er no...scratch...a television director....noo, scratch....a media loser.....wait, that doesn't sound quite insulting enough....... OK, ahem. In real life, I'm an idiot box expert with a penchant for the creative. In short, I'm a loser with no focus or direction in life. I just go where the creative flow takes me. Mostly it takes me to clogged up drains and stinky oceans but it's going.......going.....somewhere. And this blog is an expression of that mindblowing roadblock. Creative frustration is a great motivator and here is a result of that.
